Zawad Abrar Hits Second Century in Three Matches as Bangladesh U-19s Post 336 vs Sri Lanka
Zawad Abrar once again stole the spotlight with a sublime century as Bangladesh U-19 posted a mammoth 336/8 against Sri Lanka in the fourth Youth ODI, their highest total of the series. With this, Bangladesh lead the six-match series 2-1, and a win here would give them an unassailable 3-1 lead.
Having elected to bat first, the visitors suffered an early blow when Kalam Siddique fell for 19. Skipper Azizul Hakim Tamim looked promising but was run out for 23, leaving Bangladesh at 87/2. From there, Zawad took charge.
The young opener, who had scored a century just two matches ago, once again showed maturity and class. He reached his second ton of the series with a towering six over midwicket, eventually scoring 113 off 115 balls, including 14 fours and 3 sixes. He was ably supported by Rizan Hossain, who missed a well-deserved hundred, falling for a stroke-filled 82 off 77 balls. Together, they stitched a crucial 135-run partnership for the third wicket.
Even after their dismissals, the middle and lower order fired impressively. Debashish Deba contributed a quick 19 off 11, Mohammad Abdullah chipped in with 32 off 27, and Samium Basir smashed 23 off just 8 balls. Al Fahad added the finishing touch with an unbeaten 19 off 5 deliveries, propelling Bangladesh past the 330 mark.
Sri Lanka now face a stiff chase of 337 runs in 50 overs to level the series. Anything short, and the hosts risk going 3-1 down in the six-match contest.
