What Prithvi Shaw Said About Not Getting an IPL Team
Prithvi Shaw went unsold in the mega auction for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL), held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Despite a base price of INR 75 lakh, no franchise showed interest in the batter, primarily due to his ongoing poor form and fitness issues. The snub has also made Shaw the target of trolls on social media.
Speaking about the trolling, Shaw recently addressed the criticism on a YouTube channel, responding to his detractors: "If people are trolling me, that means they are watching me. If they weren’t following me, how could they troll me? It means I have their attention."
He added: "Honestly, I find these trolls amusing. I enjoy reading what people say about me—whether it’s positive or negative. It’s interesting to know what others think about me."

However, Shaw admitted that some trolls do hurt him: "Trolling isn’t entirely right, but it’s not the worst thing either. I see every meme and post about me. Sometimes, it feels like they’ve crossed the line or said something they shouldn’t have. It does sting occasionally."
He also highlighted a recent incident where he was criticized for a video of him dancing during his birthday celebration. Critics questioned his commitment to cricket and accused him of neglecting his training.
"It was my 25th birthday. I was spending one day of the year with my family and friends, enjoying myself. I kept wondering what mistake I had made to deserve such backlash," Shaw explained.
Despite the negativity, Shaw seems to be taking the trolling in stride, using it as a way to reflect on his journey and public perception.
