In a dominant performance, the Bangladesh Women’s Cricket Team suffered a crushing defeat to the West Indies Women’s Team in St. Kitts. Setting a massive target of 202 runs, the Caribbean women secured a commanding 106-run victory, their largest win margin ever in a T20I match against Bangladesh. With this win, West Indies clinched the three-match series with one game remaining.
The West Indies openers, Kiana Joseph and Hayley Matthews, provided a spectacular start with four sixes. Matthews was dismissed for 27 off 18 balls, while Joseph went on to score a half-century. Her innings of 63 runs from 36 balls included 9 fours and 2 sixes before she was dismissed by Rabiya Khan.
Deandra Dottin, coming in at number 4, smashed a blistering 49 runs off 20 balls. Her innings included 3 boundaries and 5 sixes, taking her team closer to a huge total. At the end, an explosive 24 off 12 balls from Sabika Gajnabi helped West Indies cross the 200-run mark, setting a target of 202 runs for Bangladesh.
For Bangladesh, Fahima Khatun claimed 3 wickets, while Rabiya Khan picked up 2.
Chasing a challenging total, Bangladesh’s top order collapsed under pressure from the West Indies’ bowlers. The first three batters were dismissed for single-digit scores. Shormin Akter top-scored with 22 runs off 25 balls.
The West Indies women’s bowling attack proved too strong for the Bangladesh team, and they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Sworna Akter managed 16 runs, Lata Mondal scored 13, and captain Nigar Sultana was out for 10. No other batswoman could reach double figures, and Bangladesh were bowled out for just 95 runs in the 20th over.
For West Indies, Cherry-Ann Fraser, Afy Fletcher, and Hayley Matthews each claimed 2 wickets, sealing a comprehensive victory for the home team.
