The West Indies Women’s cricket team has whitewashed Bangladesh Women 3-0 in the T20I series by winning the third match by 5 wickets. Bangladesh, batting first, scored 104 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. In response, West Indies chased down the target in 18.3 overs, losing 5 wickets.
The match was held at Warner Park on Saturday, where Bangladesh won the toss but chose to bat first. They lost their opening partnership at 24 runs, with Murshida Khatun dismissed for 13 runs. The other opener, Dilara Akter, also fell for 21 runs off 16 balls. Bangladesh managed 43 runs during the powerplay but lost wickets at regular intervals.
Nigar Sultana was the top scorer for Bangladesh, making 33 runs off 43 balls. Taj Nehar scored 10, and no other batter managed to reach double figures. As a result, Bangladesh’s innings was restricted to 104 runs.
For the West Indies, Janellia Glasgow was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for just 15 runs.
Chasing 105, West Indies initially faced pressure as they lost 2 wickets for 26 runs. However, a steady third-wicket partnership between Deandra Dottin and Janellia Glasgow, who scored 25 runs off 28 balls, guided the team towards the target.
The match was sealed by a 44-run partnership between Sabika Gazanavi and Zaida James for the sixth wicket. Sabika remained unbeaten on 27 runs off 25 balls, while Zaida finished on 14 not out. West Indies reached the target with 9 balls to spare.
Sultana Khatun and Fahima Khatun took 2 wickets each for Bangladesh. Janellia Glasgow was named Player of the Match, and Deandra Dottin was named Player of the Series.
