Winning the toss in Chattogram, West Indies opted to bat first and got off to a steady start as openers Brandon King and Alick Athanaze added 35 runs in the powerplay without losing a wicket. The breakthrough came from leg-spinner Rishad Hossain, who bowled Athanaze for 35.

King made 33 before falling, while Taskin Ahmed briefly raised hopes of a hat-trick after dismissing Sherfane Rutherford for a golden duck. However, Shai Hope and Rovman Powell provided the late acceleration, hammering the Bangladesh bowlers in the final overs. Powell smashed three sixes off Tanzim Hasan Sakib in the last over as West Indies finished on 165/3 in their allotted 20 overs. Hope and Powell remained unbeaten on 46 and 44 respectively. Taskin took two wickets, and Rishad claimed one.

In reply, Bangladesh’s chase got off to a turbulent start. Tanzid Hasan Tamim smashed 15 off 5 balls but departed early. The hosts soon lost Saif, Litton, and Shamim as they slumped to 42/4 inside the powerplay.

A quick 40-run stand off 23 balls between Tanzim Sakib and Nasum Ahmed brought some hope, but both fell in quick succession—Sakib for 33 and Nasum for 20. Despite some late resistance from Taskin and Nasum, Bangladesh were bowled out for 149 with two balls remaining, falling 16 runs short.

For West Indies, Jayden Seales and Jason Holder picked up three wickets each, while Akeal Hosein claimed two.
