At the Broward County Stadium in Florida, Pakistan began their T20I series on a winning note, securing a 14-run victory in the first match thanks to their spin attack and disciplined bowling. After a composed batting display by Saim Ayub, the visitors’ spinners—Mohammad Nawaz and Sufiyan Muqeem—dismantled the West Indies batting lineup. With this win, Pakistan take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Pakistan had a slow start. West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph put early pressure on the top order. Fakhar Zaman struggled to accelerate, scoring 28 off 24 balls. However, it was Saim Ayub who lifted the innings.

After a cautious start, Saim found his rhythm with a boundary off the final ball of the 9th over. He followed it with aggressive strokes, including a four off Romario Shepherd and a blistering 20-run over against Jediah Blades, which brought up his fifty. He eventually scored 57 off 38 balls, laced with 2 sixes and 5 fours.

In the final phase, cameo knocks from Hasan Nawaz and Faheem Ashraf, along with a six from Mohammad Haris off his very first ball, helped Pakistan plunder 58 runs in the last 31 deliveries. They finished with a competitive total of 178 in their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing 179, West Indies started confidently. Debutant Jewel Andrew and experienced Johnson Charles added 72 runs for the opening partnership, albeit at a sluggish pace. Charles scored 35 off 36 while Andrew made 35 off 33.

Pakistan turned the game around by introducing spin right after the powerplay. Mohammad Nawaz dismissed Andrew in the 9th over and sent Charles back later in the same over. Losing both set batters in quick succession put the hosts under pressure.

Following that, wickets kept tumbling—Gudakesh Motie, Romario Shepherd, and Roston Chase departed one after another, putting West Indies on the back foot. The trio of spinners—Sufiyan Muqeem, Nawaz, and Saim Ayub—collectively bowled 8 overs, conceding just 62 runs and claiming 5 crucial wickets.

Jason Holder provided a late scare with a quickfire 30 off 12 balls, including four towering sixes. West Indies scored 38 runs in the final two overs, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the target. Their innings ended at 164 for 7, handing Pakistan a well-earned win.
