A match that slipped away in the final stretch—where rain, a batting collapse, and missed opportunities combined to push Bangladesh away from a series victory. After losing the decider, Bangladesh had to settle for a drawn T20 series against New Zealand.

Reflecting on his experience and the key moments of the game, captain Liton Das highlighted the impact of the rain break. He said, ‘I and Hridoy were building a partnership when the rain interrupted the game. At that moment, we needed a big stand. But the break due to rain cost us our momentum. It just wasn’t our day.’

The Bangladesh skipper also expressed disappointment over the team’s batting performance. Pointing out the inadequacy of the total, he said, ‘On a good wicket, 100 runs are definitely not enough. I think a score around 160 would have been competitive. Although batting first and getting 150 was obviously difficult. At the toss, I had said the weather would be a big factor. I think the toss was important.’

Liton also shared his thoughts on the bowling performance, particularly praising Shoriful Islam, while admitting the team’s overall shortcomings. He said, ‘Shoriful bowled really well. His excellent spell put New Zealand under pressure. But in the end, we couldn’t finish it. In truth, both our batting and bowling were not good enough.’
