Venue for Bangladesh-Pakistan Second Test Changed
The venue for the second Test between Bangladesh and Pakistan has been changed. Originally scheduled to begin on August 30th in Karachi as part of the two-match Test series, the second Test will no longer be held there. Instead, both Tests against Bangladesh will be played at a single venue, Rawalpindi, as announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The PCB explained the reasons for this venue change in a press release on Sunday. Emphasizing the safety of the players, the statement read, "We consulted construction experts regarding the venue preparation. They indicated that while it’s possible to play alongside the renovation, the noise pollution could disturb the players. Additionally, the construction dust could pose health risks to players, officials, and the media."
Renovation work is ongoing at the Karachi Stadium in preparation for the Champions Trophy, scheduled to be held in Pakistan in February 2025. Initially, the PCB had decided to hold the match without any spectators in the stands, but they have since retracted this decision.
The statement further added, "Since the construction work cannot be paused to prepare the venue for the Champions Trophy, the PCB, after discussions with all relevant parties, has decided to hold both Tests in Rawalpindi."
Meanwhile, in Islamabad, the Pakistan Shaheens and Bangladesh 'A' teams will continue their series. After the first four-day match ended in a draw, the second four-day match will begin on August 20th at the Islamabad Club, followed by three One Day matches on August 26th, 28th, and 30th.
