What Sunrisers Hyderabad did, no one had done in IPL history before. A team with the highest total. Alongside, both teams set the record for the highest run chase in IPL. Taking the bat first against Mumbai Indians on their home turf, Hyderabad lost 3 wickets in the designated 20 overs, amassing a collection of 277 runs. Mumbai couldn't quite match it. However, despite such a fierce batting display, winning the match for Mumbai seemed unlikely. Losing 4 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, they settled for 246 runs. The difference was another 31 runs.
Losing the toss, Hyderabad opted to bat first. While Mayank Agarwal stayed calm, Travis Head's bat was in motion. When Agarwal departed, the team had scored 45 runs. We're in the 5th over. However, after Abhishek Sharma joined Head on the crease, the run flow intensified.
Hyderabad surpassed the century mark at the end of the 7th over. Head bid farewell with 113 runs for the team. An innings of 62 runs off 24 balls. Eden Markram joined Abhishek, contributing to further runs for the team.
Finally, Abhishek returned with 161 runs. He scored 63 runs off 23 balls individually. Yet, Abhishek's return didn't stop the trouble. Instead, it seemed to escalate further for Mumbai. Henry Classen enters the crisis.
Two proteas batsmen; Classen and Markram lead the team with 200 runs without being defeated. Both remain unbeaten. And together, they stand at 116 runs. Markram scored 42 runs off 28 balls. On the other hand, Classen scored 80 runs off 34 balls. Classen's innings included 7 sixes and 4 fours.
Despite setting a big target at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Mumbai didn't panic. Instead, they unleashed their batting might even more than Hyderabad. With just 3 overs, the team reached half-century. When opener Ishan Kishan departed, the team had scored 56 runs. Ishan scored 34 runs off 13 balls. Rohit's innings also halted at 26 runs off 12 balls.
Tilak Verma, who took to the crease after three and four, along with Dhairya, made the utmost effort to take the team forward. Losing a century, Verma returns with 150 runs, scoring 30 runs off 14 balls. Tilak stayed for a few more moments. However, Hardik Pandya's innings didn't seem as promising in today's view.
When Tilak departed, the team had scored 182 runs, playing the 15th over. A new batter, Tim David, joins the scene amidst the onslaught. It didn't work. Hardik and David together lose 200 runs in 16.4 overs.
Hardik bid farewell after scoring 24 runs off 20 balls. It's the end of the 18th over. 12 balls remained to score 54 runs. After scoring 7 runs in the 19th over, Romero Shepherd arrives in the last over and scores 15 runs. Mumbai is stopped at 246 runs until the end.
Tim David remains unbeaten with 42 runs off 22 balls, and Shepherd is undefeated with 15 runs off 6 balls.
