Two Changes for Bangladesh in Colombo Test; Ebadot Returns After Injury Layoff
Bangladesh made two changes to their playing XI for the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo, bringing in pacer Ebadot Hossain and all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Pacer Hasan Mahmud misses out due to injury.
Ebadot Hossain Choudhury returns to international cricket after nearly two years. The 31-year-old suffered an ACL injury during an ODI series against Afghanistan in July 2023, which sidelined him for an extended period.
At the toss, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto said,
"We will bat first. It looks like a good wicket, and putting runs on the board in the first innings will be crucial. Hasan Mahmud is injured, so Ebadot comes into the side. We played well in Galle, but this is a new game and we need to perform well. The first hour will be important."
Hasan Mahmud, who bowled impressively in the first Test, misses out due to injury, making room for the returning Ebadot to feature in the XI.
On the other side, Sri Lanka handed a Test debut to all-rounder Sunal Dinusha, who replaces the retired Angelo Mathews. Meanwhile, Vishwa Fernando comes in for the injured Milan Rathnayake.
Bangladesh Playing XI:
Anamul Haque Bijoy, Najmul Hossain Shanto (captain), Sadman Islam, Mominul Haque, Liton Das, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Nayeem Hasan, Taijul Islam, Nahid Rana, Ebadot Hossain.
Sri Lanka Changes:
In: Sunal Dinusha (Test debut), Vishwa Fernando
Out: Angelo Mathews (retired), Milan Rathnayake (injured)
The second and final Test of the series is being played at SSC Ground in Colombo, with the series still open after the drawn first Test in Galle.
