Tony Hemming Returns as BCB’s Head of Turf Management on Record Salary
Tony Hemming, a familiar name in Bangladesh cricket, has been reappointed as the Head of Turf Management for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The Australian pitch curator, who previously worked with the BCB, is set to become the highest-paid curator in the country’s cricket history, earning around BDT 10 lakh per month along with extensive benefits to ensure a comfortable working environment.
Hemming is returning for his second term with the BCB after recently leaving his role at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Under his new two-year contract, he will be paid USD 8,000 per month — roughly BDT 970,000 — tax-free, with the BCB covering all tax liabilities.
His recent success at the ICC Champions Trophy, where his pitches received widespread praise, played a key role in the BCB’s decision to rehire him. The appointment was finalized during the board of directors’ meeting on August 9.
In addition to his salary, Hemming will receive several perks, including a fully furnished apartment in Gulshan 2, a 24-hour car service, a monthly mobile phone allowance of BDT 3,000, and annual air travel benefits worth USD 5,000. These benefits surpass those provided to his predecessor, Gamini de Silva.
The BCB is also forming a dedicated Turf Management Wing under Hemming’s leadership, responsible for preparing pitches and outfields at all major cricket venues across the country. Alongside his primary role, Hemming will supervise and guide other curators working in Bangladesh.
