Tigresses Thrash Pakistan ‘A’ by 167 Runs in World Cup Qualifier Warm-up Match

Bangladesh Women’s cricket team delivered a dominant performance as they defeated Pakistan ‘A’ by a massive 167 runs in a warm-up match ahead of the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers. Led by captain Nigar Sultana Joty, the team posted 276 runs before bowling out Pakistan for just 109 runs.

Currently touring Pakistan for the World Cup Qualifiers, Bangladesh have been in impressive form. The Tigresses have now won both their warm-up matches convincingly—first against Scotland by 5 wickets, and now a commanding victory over the host nation's ‘A’ team.

At Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first. They were bowled out for 276 in 49.4 overs. Skipper Nigar Sultana starred with the bat, scoring a fluent 70 off 72 balls, including 9 fours and a six. Jannatul Ferdous Sumona provided a late surge with an unbeaten 46 off just 34 balls, featuring 8 boundaries. Dilara Akter chipped in with 29 runs, while opener Fargana Hoque also notched a valuable half-century before being dismissed.

In response, Pakistan ‘A’ crumbled under pressure and were all out for 109 in 39.1 overs. The Bangladesh bowling attack, led by Fahima Khatun and Rabeya Khan, dismantled the opposition. Marufa Akter, Fahima, and Rabeya took 2 wickets each. Both Pakistan openers were dismissed cheaply, each scoring just 2 runs. Only three of their batters reached double figures—Dua Majid scored 32 and Umm-e-Hani remained unbeaten on 26.

The rest of the batting line-up faltered, unable to withstand the disciplined Bangladeshi bowling. This emphatic win sets a strong tone for Bangladesh as they head into the main stage of the Women’s World Cup Qualifiers.
