Tigresses Defeat Scotland by 5 Wickets in Women’s World Cup Qualifier Warm-up Match
In a promising start to their ICC Women's ODI World Cup Qualifier campaign, the Bangladesh women's cricket team registered a commanding 5-wicket victory over Scotland in a warm-up match held at the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground.
After a disciplined bowling performance, Bangladesh chased down Scotland’s target of 252 with ease, securing the win in just 41.3 overs. Sobhana Mostary anchored the innings with a composed unbeaten 57, guiding the Tigresses to a confidence-boosting win ahead of the main tournament.
Earlier, Scotland opted to bat first and posted a competitive total of 251 for 7 in their allotted 50 overs. Sarah Bryce (58), Darcey Carter (55), and an unbeaten 52 from Katherine Fraser were the key contributors with the bat. Captain Kathryn Bryce chipped in with 31.
For Bangladesh, Ritu Moni impressed with figures of 2 for 22, while Marufa Akter claimed 1 for 22, helping restrict the Scottish side from setting an even bigger total.
In reply, Bangladesh began their chase with a positive approach. Sobhana Mostary remained not out on 57, anchoring the innings perfectly. Farzana Haque added 48 runs, Ritu Moni contributed 34, and young talent Ishma Tanzim made 26—each playing a crucial role in the victory.
Scotland’s Chloe Abel picked up 2 wickets, while Darcey Carter grabbed 1.
With this win, Bangladesh take a significant morale boost into the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier, where they will face competition from West Indies, Ireland, Scotland, Thailand, and hosts Pakistan. The top two teams from this tournament will earn a spot in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 in India.
