Once again, Bangladesh ‘A’ Women’s Cricket Team demonstrated their strength. In the Rising Stars Asia Cup, Bangladesh defeated the Thailand Women’s Team by just 3 wickets, securing their place in the semifinals with back-to-back wins.
The final moments of the match were full of excitement. On the second ball of the final over, Farzana Yasmin was on strike. She hit a four and a six on the next two balls to bring the equation down and then took a single on the following delivery to secure a thrilling win for Bangladesh with two balls remaining. The right-handed batter’s courageous innings provided a dramatic finish for the team.
Batting first, the Thailand batters could not make much impact against the disciplined Bangladesh bowling attack. They finished their innings at 103 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Nannapat Koncharoenkai scored a team-high 34, while Natthakan Chantham contributed 24 runs. Other batters to reach double figures were Onnicha Kamchomphu and Pannita Maya.
For Bangladesh, Sharifa Khatun and Fahima Khatun took 2 wickets each, while Fariha Trisna, Sanjida Akter Meghla, and Jannatul Ferdous claimed 1 wicket each.
Chasing the target, Bangladesh lost three top-order batters early, reaching only 11 runs on the board, putting them under pressure. However, Shamima Sultana and Lata Mondal steadied the innings. Shamima scored 26 runs off 29 balls, and Lata made 30 runs off 40 balls. Captain Fahima Khatun contributed 12 runs off 16 balls before being dismissed. Then, Farzana Yasmin played a cameo of 23 runs off 15 balls, guiding Bangladesh to a thrilling victory. Ultimately, Bangladesh won the match with 3 wickets in hand and 1 ball remaining.
