After the T20 series defeat against the West Indies, the Bangladesh cricket team now faces a new mental challenge. Having played back-to-back series, their main task at the moment is to recover from fatigue through proper rest and rejuvenation. Captain Liton Das believes a short break will help the players regain their freshness.

At the press conference, Liton said, “No, no. The fatigue issue here is that the players have been playing continuously. If you look at it, before the Netherlands series we had a camp in Sylhet. Then came the series against the Netherlands, followed by the Asia Cup in the UAE. There, we played ODI and T20 series against Afghanistan. After returning home, we faced the West Indies in both ODI and T20 series. Except for me—I was injured and got some time at home—most of the players have been playing non-stop. So, taking some rest is really necessary at times.”

The skipper added, “When you keep playing cricket continuously and things don’t always go your way, you need a break. Now, many of us will get around ten days off—a chance to restart.”

Liton also emphasized regaining confidence, not just physical recovery. “It’s tough to stay positive, but if someone can maintain a positive mindset, that’s great. What’s most important now is to give yourself time, to back yourself,” he said.

He also highlighted the role of supportive people around the players in helping them rebuild mentally. “It’s important to spend time with people who help you bounce back,” Liton noted. “I believe everyone will return strongly very soon.”

Ahead of the upcoming World Cup, the Bangladesh captain views this break as a positive opportunity. “Everyone will come back refreshed from the break,” he said optimistically. “Hopefully, good things are ahead.”
