Najmul Hossain Shanto had long hoped to lead the Bangladesh national cricket team, and he has achieved that. Captain Shanto's first major assignment will be the upcoming T20 World Cup. Ahead of this mega event, the Bangladesh captain requests to keep expectations in check. However, Shanto also expressed confidence, stating that his players will give more than their 100% on the field to win the matches.

Najmul Hossain Shanto, the captain across all three formats for the Bangladesh national team, joined the X-Ceramics Group today as the new Chief Brand Officer. Speaking with the media during the event, he commented on the World Cup:

"Every year, I see a lot of talk before the World Cup. Expectations... we will do this, we will do that. I have a request for you, there is no need to have too high expectations. Let the expectations stay within everyone's heart. You also know what the Bangladesh team wants. We, the cricketers, also know how far we want to take the team. Everyone wants us to achieve something great. However, when there is too much hype, personally, I do not like it. Actually, it's not necessary. When the results come, they will be evident. I can say one thing, the team that will play, will give 120% in each match to win. I can assure this and we will play to win every match."

"Every year when we play, we play every match with a lot of hope. So, we will try to do what we are capable of. But having too much hope beforehand, having much higher expectations this time... my only request is, let's not overdo the excitement."

The T20 World Cup is set to roll out this June and this time the games will be held in America and the West Indies. With the upcoming World Cup in mind, the Tigers are preparing ahead of time. The main goal for Najmul Hossain Shanto's team is to give their utmost on the cricket field.

In Group D, Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka, South Africa, the Netherlands, and Nepal. Bangladesh will play their first match in Dallas, United States, on June 7th, facing former world champions Sri Lanka in their tournament opener.
