Taskin broke the silence, told what happened that day
Before the match against India, Taskin Ahmed apologized to his teammates for waking up late and missing the team bus. Despite arriving at the stadium before the toss and joining his team for the national anthem, he was not included in the playing eleven. In response to various reports circulating about the incident, Taskin has clarified the situation, confirming that many of the published stories are false.
The Bangladesh team's vice-captain missed the team bus due to oversleeping and subsequently did not make it into the playing eleven for the crucial match. Ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup Super Eight match against India, Taskin apologized to his teammates for arriving late to the stadium after missing the team bus from the hotel.
Taskin took to his verified Facebook account to detail what happened on that day:
"Assalamu Alaikum, I hope everyone is well. I have recently seen a lot of commotion online regarding an incident from the recently concluded T20 World Cup. Firstly, I want to let everyone know that most of the news and information being spread is merely rumors, and I hope fans will see it that way. Secondly, I want to clarify what actually happened on that day. I admit that I woke up later than usual and have already apologized to the entire team and management for it. I woke up at 8:37 AM, went to the lobby at 8:43 AM, and left the hotel at 9:00 AM as soon as my ride was ready. I entered the stadium at 9:40 AM, 20 minutes before the toss at 10:00 AM. We sang the national anthem at 10:15 AM, and the match started at 10:30 AM. It is unfortunate that so-called sports journalists are publishing/printing news based on rumors and trying to tarnish my image without verifying facts, which is detrimental to a national cricket team player. Those who know me understand how much I love our country and how dedicated, passionate, and proud I am to represent Bangladesh. I know I made an unintentional mistake by not getting on the team bus on time, but I was at the stadium before the toss. My exclusion from the final team was a decision by the team management related to getting the right team combination, not because of my failure to board the team bus on time. So, I hope the media and sports journalists will be more cautious before writing false stories and creating a toxic environment. This not only harms our players but also damages the overall image of our country. I believe we all hope for honest and professional journalism so we can move forward as a nation. In the future, I will take legal action regarding such matters to ensure no one tries to damage my reputation or integrity as an athlete or person. Thanks to all my fans for their continued support."
Taskin's clarification aims to address the misconceptions and ensure that the truth about the incident is understood by his fans and the general public.
