Tamim Iqbal’s Century Leads Mohammedan to a Dominant 7-Wicket Victory Over Partex Sporting Club
A brilliant century from Tamim Iqbal powered Mohammedan Sporting Club to a commanding 7-wicket victory over Partex Sporting Club. Tamim, the hero of Mohammedan’s win, struck 11 fours and 5 sixes in his match-winning innings.
On Sunday, in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League at BKSP, Partex Sporting Club opted to bat first after winning the toss. However, they struggled right from the start against the spin attack of Taijul Islam and Nasum Ahmed, losing wickets at regular intervals. Openers Joyraj Sheikh (38) and Rubel Mia (24) were both dismissed by Nasum Ahmed.
Ahrar Amin played a fighting knock of 78 off 86 balls to keep Partex in the game, while Jawad Roan contributed 42 runs. Eventually, Partex was bowled out for 218 in 46.3 overs. Taijul Islam was the standout bowler for Mohammedan, claiming 4 wickets, while Nasum Ahmed picked up 3.
Chasing the target, Mohammedan lost Rony Talukdar early to Moher Sheikh’s delivery. Mahidul Islam Ankon also struggled, scoring just 6 runs off 32 balls before getting out. However, Tamim Iqbal built a solid partnership with Towhid Hridoy to steady the innings. After Hridoy departed for 37, Tamim, alongside Mushfiqur Rahim, guided the team to victory.
Tamim reached his century in style and remained unbeaten on 125 off 112 balls. Mohammedan comfortably secured the win in just 40.2 overs, losing only 3 wickets. Mushfiqur Rahim remained not out on 35 runs.
