Soumya Sarkar Ruled Out of Pakistan Series, Mehidy Hasan Miraz Named Replacement
Bangladesh all-rounder Soumya Sarkar has been ruled out of the upcoming Pakistan T20I series due to a back injury. He also missed the recently concluded UAE series because of the same issue. In his place, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has named Mehidy Hasan Miraz as his replacement for the three-match series.
Soumya has been experiencing pain in the right side of his lower back for the past week. National team physio Bayejidul Islam Khan confirmed that medical assessments suggest a 10–12 day rehabilitation period is necessary for his recovery. As a result, the left-handed batter will not be fit in time for the Pakistan tour.
Miraz, a 27-year-old all-rounder with experience in 29 T20Is, is currently playing for Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He is expected to join the Bangladesh national team in Lahore after the conclusion of the PSL.
The Bangladesh team is scheduled to arrive in Lahore on May 25, with practice sessions planned for May 26 and 27 ahead of the series opener. Liton Das will continue to lead the side.
