Fast bowler Nahid Rana, fielding coach James Pamment, and trainer Nathan Kiely have opted out of Bangladesh's upcoming T20I series in Pakistan due to security concerns. The trio is returning to Dhaka from the United Arab Emirates. Soumya Sarkar, who is also not part of the Pakistan tour due to a back injury, is traveling back on the same flight as Rana.
Bangladesh is scheduled to travel from the UAE to Pakistan on May 25 to play a three-match T20I series. However, Rana has withdrawn his name from the squad and will not be part of the touring party. Fielding coach Pamment and trainer Kiely have also stepped down from the tour.
Soumya Sarkar, who missed all matches in the recently concluded UAE series due to a back injury, has also been ruled out of the Pakistan tour. In his place, all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been called up for the T20I series. Miraz will join the national team after completing his Pakistan Super League (PSL) stint with Lahore Qalandars.
The rest of the Bangladesh team is set to depart for Pakistan on Sunday. Left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman, currently in India, will join the squad directly from there.
The three-match series will be played at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. The matches are scheduled for May 28, May 30, and June 1, all starting at 9:00 PM Bangladesh time.
