The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy is just 9 days away, marking the return of the mega event after 2017. To build anticipation, the ICC has announced the names of the match officials for each game, revealing the roles that will be played by various umpires. Among them, Sharfuddoula Ibn Shahid Saikat from Bangladesh will officiate as an on-field umpire in two matches and will also serve as the fourth umpire and TV umpire in one match each.
Sharfuddoula, a member of the ICC Elite Panel, will begin his role in the opening match of the tournament. He will officiate as an on-field umpire alongside Richard Kettleborough during the Pakistan vs New Zealand match on 19th February in Karachi.
For the opening game of the 2025 Champions Trophy, Joel Wilson will serve as the TV umpire, and Alex Wharf will be the fourth umpire. The match referee for this game will be Andy Pycroft.
Sharfuddoula will later be in the role of fourth umpire on 21st February for the Afghanistan vs South Africa match in Karachi.
On 26th February, he will return as an on-field umpire for the Afghanistan vs England match in Lahore, with Joel Wilson accompanying him on the field.
Finally, on 1st March, Sharfuddoula will take on the role of TV umpire during the South Africa vs England match in Karachi.
