Shanaka, Karunaratne Return to Sri Lanka T20 Squad for Bangladesh Series
Sri Lanka Cricket has recalled all-rounders Dasun Shanaka and Chamika Karunaratne for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh.
Both players have been out of the national setup for some time due to injury, form, and selection decisions. Their return signals the selectors’ intent to rebuild the side with an eye on the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
A team source told NewsWire that their inclusion aims to boost “balance and experience” in the squad. Shanaka, a former captain who led Sri Lanka to an Asia Cup title, brings leadership and finishing ability. Karunaratne adds depth with both bat and ball and is known for his adaptability under pressure.
The three-match T20I series begins next week, and Sri Lanka is clearly aiming to field a full-strength side against Bangladesh.
