After finishing the Test series in Pakistan, Shakib Al Hasan has traveled to England to participate in the County Championship. He will be playing for Surrey against Somerset in a Division One match, which is set to begin tomorrow in Taunton. The match is scheduled to start at 4 PM Bangladesh time and will continue until September 12.
Shakib’s appearance in the County Championship comes during a break between his tours to Pakistan and India. In England, he will be representing Surrey in a four-day game against Somerset. Currently, Somerset is in second place in the points table with 193 points from 11 matches. Surrey, on the other hand, tops the table with 7 wins out of 11 matches. Surrey’s previous match against Nottinghamshire ended in a draw, and they are keen to secure a win with Shakib's contribution.
In Surrey, Shakib will join forces with England stars Rory Burns and Dom Sibley, with Rory Burns leading the team. Somerset's squad features notable players such as Tom Abell, Tom Banton, Craig Overton, Josh Davey, Jack Ball, Jack Leach, and Archie von.
Following his stint with Surrey, Shakib will head to India for the national team's assignments. The Test series against India is set to commence on September 19 in Chennai. The Bangladeshi squad, led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, is expected to arrive in India on September 15.
Despite facing a murder case allegation, Shakib Al Hasan has maintained his performance on the field, and his cricketing prowess remains unaffected by the political turmoil. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) continues to support Shakib, who remains focused on his upcoming series and commitments.
