Bangladesh's star cricketers Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan will be participating in the inaugural edition of the Sixty Strikes tournament, organized by the National Cricket League (NCL) in the United States. The tournament will take place in Dallas, with the opening match on October 4 and the final scheduled for October 14.
In addition to Tamim and Shakib, the tournament has also signed Shahid Afridi, Imran Tahir, Kusal Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal, and Hashmatullah Shahidi.
The Sixty Strikes format is designed for a duration of approximately 90 minutes, similar to T10 cricket. Although a new concept for American audiences, it has already gained popularity in countries like Abu Dhabi, where sixes and fours are common sights.
In a video message shared on NCL’s social media, Tamim Iqbal stated, “I will be participating in the National Cricket League from October 4 to 14 in Dallas. I am particularly looking forward to seeing Bangladeshi cricket fans in the stands. I know many of you are in Dallas. I am truly excited to be part of this tournament and to see you all soon.”
The tournament will feature a total of six teams, with all matches played at the University of Texas Dallas.
The teams will be led by cricket icons such as Sunil Narine, Dwayne Bravo, Mohammad Amir, Angelo Mathews, Jason Roy, Mohammad Nabi, Shahid Afridi, and Kamran Akmal.
Legendary cricketers like Sir Vivian Richards, Mickey Arthur, Dilip Vengsarkar, and Zaheer Abbas are expected to be seen as coaches for the tournament.
