Shakib Al Hasan has been part of many historic moments throughout his career. Currently, his team is in the United States for the World Cup, and Shakib has received some delightful news. The world-renowned all-rounder stands on the brink of another first: he is set to become the first Bangladeshi cricketer to debut in Major League Cricket (MLC).
For the second season of America's franchise T20 tournament, Major League Cricket, Shakib has signed with the Los Angeles Knight Riders. The franchise confirmed on Friday that they have directly signed Shakib. The second season of Major League Cricket will commence on July 4th, and ahead of this, Shakib inked his contract with the Los Angeles Knight Riders.
The team, owned by Shah Rukh Khan, has also signed notable players like Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Jason Roy, Spencer Johnson, Unmukt Chand, Ali Khan, Saif Badar, Nitish Kumar, Shadley van Schalkwyk, and local cricketers Deron Davis, Matthew Tromp, Corné Dry, and Aditya Ganesh.
Bangladesh's star all-rounder will join these cricketers to light up the second season of Major League Cricket. Shakib has previously won the Indian Premier League (IPL) twice, in 2012 and 2014, with the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Shakib debuted in the IPL with Shah Rukh Khan's team in 2011. Over his IPL career, he has played 71 matches, scored 793 runs with two fifties, and taken 63 wickets. Now, Knight Riders fans are eagerly waiting to see how he performs in another franchise cricket league as a member of the same franchise.
The Los Angeles Knight Riders, Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the International League T20 (ILT20) are all teams under the same franchise.
