The ongoing Legends 90 League was set to feature two of Bangladesh's cricketing giants, Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal. However, while Tamim will be playing for Big Boys Unikari, Shakib has decided to withdraw from the tournament, leaving fans disappointed that the two stalwarts will not share the field in this competition.
Following the conclusion of the BPL (Bangladesh Premier League), Tamim Iqbal, with no other commitments in the country, will be heading to India to participate in the tournament. On the other hand, Shakib Al Hasan, who was originally set to lead the Dubai Giants, has opted not to play. Instead of heading to India via Dubai, he has returned to the United States.
The Legends 90 League kicked off on February 6 in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India. The league, primarily for retired international cricketers, will run until February 18.
Fans had hoped to see Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan competing together in the same tournament, but this will no longer be the case. There has been some tension between the two stars in recent years, and now, they will play in separate teams. Tamim, alongside Abdur Razzak, will play for Big Boys, which also boasts of international cricketing legends like Chris Gayle, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Upul Tharanga, and Herschelle Gibbs.
