Secret Revealed, Asif Mahmud Sends Strong Message Targeting Shakib
Former Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan has once again become the center of heated political debate. Recently, Shakib extended birthday wishes to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on social media, which triggered a wave of criticism. In response, Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan stepped in with counter remarks.
On Sunday (September 28) night, Asif Mahmud made a status on his personal Facebook account. Though he did not mention Shakib by name, his words were clearly directed at the star cricketer. In that post, he wrote, "Many of you hurled insults at me for not rehabilitating someone. But I was right. End of the discussion."
The very next day, Monday (September 29) afternoon, he once again stirred controversy with another Facebook post. This time, the Sports Adviser directly brought up Shakib’s politics and nomination issue. From his verified account, he wrote, "Brother, I was forced into the nomination. I only contested the election, but I never got involved in Awami League’s party politics."
He went further in a harsh tone, stating about Shakib, "You know him—someone whose hands are stained with the blood of students and the public. There’s no question of allowing such a person to carry Bangladesh’s flag. Despite repeated calls from the board to clarify his political stance, he refused to do so. Instead, endorsing murderers, being involved in share market scams, money laundering, and financial fraud—why should someone like that be rehabilitated just because he is a good cricketer?"
Finally, addressing Shakib directly, he added, "The law is equal for all. Face it."
