Saim Ayub Out of Action for at Least Six Weeks
Pakistan opener Saim Ayub will be sidelined from competitive cricket for at least six weeks due to a fractured right ankle sustained while fielding on the first day of the second Test against South Africa at Newlands.
An MRI scan conducted on Friday afternoon confirmed the fracture, which has now been stabilized using an ankle medical moon boot.
While Saim will be unable to participate in the remainder of the Test match, he will remain with the team and return to Pakistan with the squad after the match concludes.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed this in an official press release. With the ICC Champions Trophy set to begin in Pakistan in 45 days, Saim's chances of participating appear slim. Fans are hoping for his speedy recovery and a swift return to the field.
The 22-year-old Saim Ayub has already represented Pakistan in 7 Tests, 9 ODIs, and 27 T20Is, scoring 364, 515, and 498 runs respectively. He has also registered three centuries in the ODI format.
