Bangladesh batter Sabbir Rahman produced a blistering, unbeaten 152 from just 96 balls to propel Uxbridge Cricket Club to a 131-run victory over Amersham in a Thames Valley Cricket League Division One fixture on Saturday.
Opening the innings, the right-hander struck 12 fours and nine towering sixes, powering Uxbridge to a formidable 348 for 4. He shared a 229-run stand with Aman Qadri, who hammered 134.
With the ball, Sabbir sent down four overs for 27 runs, as Amersham were restricted to 217 for 9.
The result gave Uxbridge their first win of the campaign after losing their opener to Boyne Hill, where Sabbir had managed 29 from 34 deliveries.
Sabbir’s power-hitting heroics came on the same day fellow Bangladeshi opener Parvez Hossain Emon set a national-team record with nine sixes in the UAE, underscoring a banner night for Bangladeshi batsmen worldwide.
Posting the scorecard on Facebook, Sabbir wrote: “Alhamdulillah. A good performance is always welcome, wherever it happens. Please keep me in your prayers.”
