Report on the Match Between Prime Bank and Gazi Group in the Dhaka Premier League
In today’s Dhaka Premier League match at BKSP, Gazi Group and Prime Bank Cricket Club engaged in a low-scoring thriller. Gazi Group, who batted first and managed to score 183 runs, dominated with the ball and won the match by 94 runs. Prime Bank could only manage to score 89 runs, falling short on a day when their top batsmen, including Naim Sheikh and Shamim Patowary, failed to perform.
Enamul Haque Bijoy, who had scored fifties in the previous two matches, contributed a vital 48 runs for Gazi Group. His solid performance, combined with impressive bowling, helped Gazi Group secure a victory. At the BKSP Field No. 4, Gazi Group, after losing the toss, opted to bat first and set a target of 183 runs, finishing their innings well before the allotted overs were completed.
The highest scorer for Gazi Group was their captain, Enamul Haque Bijoy, who made 48 runs from just 44 balls, including 5 fours and 1 six. The rest of the top order failed to contribute much, with only Wasi Siddique adding some valuable runs. At the lower end, Aminul Islam Bipul made 35, Toafiq Ahmed scored 20, and Abdul Gaffar Sakline contributed 24 runs, helping the team reach a total of 183 runs on the scoreboard.
Prime Bank Cricket Club, chasing an achievable target of 184, failed to capitalize on the opportunity. Gazi Group's spinner Shamsur Rahman Shuvo struck early, dismissing Sabbir Hossain on the very first delivery of the innings. Another opener, Naim Sheikh, could not go beyond 15 runs. Zakir Hasan, coming in at number three, managed only 11 runs, and Shahadat Dipu was dismissed for just 12 runs.
On a day when the top order faltered, Prime Bank’s captain Irfan Shukur also struggled, making only 2 runs off 11 balls. Middle-order batsman Shamim Patowary couldn’t rescue his team either, contributing only 4 runs from 13 balls. At the end, Rishad Hossain tried to reduce the deficit with 21 runs off 22 balls, but it wasn’t enough.
Prime Bank were bowled out in just 23.2 overs for a mere 89 runs. Gazi Group’s bowlers, particularly Shamsur Rahman Shuvo, put on a brilliant performance, dismissing Naim, Shamim, and the others to secure a 94-run victory. The match ended with Gazi Group emerging victorious by a large margin, showcasing both strong batting and superior bowling performance.
