The International Cricket Council (ICC) is set to create new history with the Women’s T20 World Cup, as this edition brings an unprecedented financial boost to the tournament.

The ICC has announced record prize money for the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup, which will feature 12 participating teams, marking a significant increase compared to previous editions.

According to the new announcement, the total prize pool for the tournament has been set at 8,764,615 US dollars, approximately a 10 percent increase compared to the previous edition. In Bangladeshi currency, this amounts to around 10.78 billion taka, making it the largest prize structure in the history of women’s cricket.

In the 2024 edition, the total prize money for 10 teams was 7,958,077 US dollars, meaning this year’s amount has surpassed that figure. The champions will receive the largest share of the tournament, earning 2,340,000 US dollars, which is approximately 287.8 million Bangladeshi taka.

The runners-up will receive 1,170,000 US dollars, equivalent to around 143.9 million taka in local currency. The two losing semi-finalists will each earn 675,000 US dollars, which is approximately 83 million taka.

For each group-stage win, teams will receive 31,154 US dollars, equivalent to around 3.83 million taka. In addition, every one of the 12 participating teams is guaranteed at least 247,500 US dollars, which is roughly 30.4 million taka.
