Rawalpindi Test: Miraz's Press Conference
In Rawalpindi, despite celebrating a century, Mr. Dependable missed out on a double century by just 9 runs. Veteran Mushfiqur Rahim has returned to his rhythm over time against Pakistan's strong bowling attack. While Mushfiq anchored one end with his responsible batting, Mehedi Hasan Miraz handled the job of keeping the scoreboard ticking at the other end. Both contributed significantly to the run tally, with Mushfiq's 191-run innings being a highlight. Miraz also spoke about their partnership and his own performance.
It was a Bangladesh-dominated day in Pakistan. In response to Pakistan’s 448, Bangladesh scored 565, their highest ever against Pakistan and the third highest in their Test history. The partnership between Mushfiq and Miraz added 196 runs, which is the highest seventh-wicket partnership for Bangladesh. After being 117 runs behind, Pakistan began their second innings by losing Saim Ayub early.
At the end of the day's play, Mehedi Hasan Miraz addressed the media:
"Alhamdulillah, we had a good start. We’ve been batting well for the last two days. The players have performed excellently, especially Mushfiq with his 190 runs. We had a good partnership between me and Mushfiq. Additionally, a few other players performed well in the first innings, like Sadman. I believe we are in a good position now. We need to focus on the game tomorrow and play even better."
Miraz discussed his partnership with Mushfiqur Rahim, saying, "Certainly, our partnership was excellent. Mushfiq deserves credit; he performed brilliantly. He always supports me and communicates well. The wicket was excellent."
"My role was quite important. I batted at number 8 and partnered with Mushfiq for nearly a 192-run stand. This partnership created momentum for the team. I always try to play for the team and contribute positively in any situation."
Miraz did not rule out the possibility of Bangladesh winning the Test, stating, "In the first hour, our bowlers will have a good opportunity. If they bowl well, we can get into a good position. We have a good chance to take a few wickets in the first session, and if we manage that, we’ll have a good chance to win the match."
