Rabada, Maharaj script series win in Guyana

South Africa secured a 40-run victory over the West Indies in the second Test. Despite having hopes of victory in the first Test, the Proteas had to settle for a draw. With this win, South Africa clinched the two-match Test series 1-0, marking their tenth consecutive Test series win against the Caribbean team.

On Wednesday in Guyana, the West Indies had a target of 263 runs to chase in their second innings. They were bowled out for 222 runs, resulting in a 40-run victory for South Africa.

The West Indies started losing wickets early in their second innings. Captain and opener Carlos Brathwaite scored 25 runs, while fellow opener Luis Reifer was out for 4 runs. The West Indies lost 6 wickets for just 104 runs, struggling to build a stable innings.

In a seventh-wicket partnership, Gudakesh Motie and Joshua Da Silva added 77 runs, giving the Caribbean team some hope. However, their resistance was short-lived. After Gudakesh Motie was out, Joshua Da Silva was dismissed for just 1 run. Both wickets were taken by Keshav Maharaj. Motie scored 45 runs and Da Silva contributed 27 runs.

Afterwards, the West Indies could not recover. At the end, Alzarri Joseph scored 11 runs, while Warrican remained unbeaten on 25. The West Indies were all out for 222 runs.

For South Africa, Kagiso Rabada and Keshav Maharaj each took 3 wickets in the second innings. Keshav Maharaj was named Man of the Series.

In the first innings, South Africa was all out for just 160 runs. In response, the Caribbean team managed 144 runs. Leading by 16 runs, South Africa scored 246 runs in their second innings. The West Indies, set a target of 263 runs, were all out for 222 runs, giving South Africa a 40-run victory.
