Proteas All-Rounder Corbin Bosch Penalised for ICC Code of Conduct Breach
Proteas All-Rounder Corbin Bosch Penalised for ICC Code of Conduct Breach
South Africa all-rounder Corbin Bosch has been penalised for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the second T20I against Australia. The incident occurred on Tuesday in Darwin, where Bosch was found guilty of violating Level 1 Article 2.5 of the code.
According to the ICC, Article 2.5 refers to “using language, actions, or gestures during an international match that could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon dismissal or from any other player.”
The breach took place in the 17th over of Australia’s innings when Bosch, after dismissing Ben Dwarshuis, made a provocative gesture towards the opposition dugout. Match officials deemed the act unnecessary aggression within the spirit of the game. As a result, Bosch was handed one demerit point.
Since Bosch admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match officials, no formal hearing was required.
The three-match series is now tied 1-1, with the series-deciding third T20I scheduled for 16 August in Cairns.
