PCB to Withhold NOCs for Babar Azam and Others Before Bangladesh Series
Three Pakistani cricketers, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi, were slated to participate in Canada’s Global T20 League. However, their participation is now uncertain. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has announced that No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for foreign leagues will not be issued to these players.
Pakistan is set to play a Test series against Bangladesh in August on home soil. Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Haris Rauf might be rested for this series due to workload management. Despite this, Mohsin Naqvi has confirmed that no NOCs will be provided for any league participation before the Test series.
In response to Pakistan's disappointing performance in the recently concluded T20 World Cup, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has made several stringent decisions. He emphasized the accountability of selectors and established new criteria for player selection based on domestic cricket performance.
Furthermore, Naqvi declared that international players who do not participate in domestic cricket will not be considered for the national team. However, no decision has been made yet regarding the removal of Babar Azam as captain.
Naqvi also addressed the issue of fan behavior, stating that any supporter who mistreats Pakistani cricketers will be prosecuted under the law.
