Parvez Hossain Emon’s Record-Breaking Hundred Propels Bangladesh to 191 vs UAE
Bangladesh kicked off their T20 campaign for 2025 with a commanding batting display against the United Arab Emirates, posting a formidable total of 191 for 7 in the first of a two-match T20I series. The star of the show was young opener Parvez Hossain Emon, who lit up the Dubai night with his maiden international century.
Emon blazed his way to 100 off just 53 balls, becoming the second Bangladeshi after Tamim Iqbal to score a T20I century—and the fastest in the country’s history. He reached his half-century in 28 balls before launching a flurry of boundaries and sixes to bring up the milestone. Emon smashed 9 sixes, setting a new record for most sixes in a T20I innings by a Bangladeshi batter.
Before this match, Emon had scored just 88 runs across 7 T20Is, but he delivered when it mattered. His century was only the second ever by a Bangladeshi in T20Is, surpassing Tamim Iqbal’s previous fastest ton (60 balls) against Oman in the 2016 T20 World Cup.
Despite losing the toss and having to bat first, Bangladesh rode on Emon’s brilliance to post a competitive score. The next highest scorer was Towhid Hridoy with 20 off 15 balls. Skipper Liton Das, in his first match as full-time captain, failed to impress with the bat, managing only 11 runs.
Bangladesh lost wickets at regular intervals, with Tanzid Hasan (10), Liton (11), Sheikh Mehedi (2), Zakir Ali Anik (13), and Shamim Hossain (6) all failing to convert their starts. The team looked on course for a 200-plus total, but Emon’s dismissal on the first ball of the final over ended those hopes. The innings closed at 191/7, with just 6 runs coming in the last over.
Tailenders Tanzim Sakib (7*) and Tanvir Islam (1*) remained unbeaten as the innings wrapped up.
