Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hasan Papon expressed disappointment with Litton Das's performance in the recent ICC World Cup. Litton's performance has been termed as 'disappointing' by him. Litton failed to deliver as expected, especially in the first Test against Sri Lanka. He was dropped from the squad even after the first ODI match against Sri Lanka. In the Test match where Bangladesh faced defeat, he scored 25 in the first innings and returned with zero in the second innings. Today (Tuesday), BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon spoke to the media about Litton's situation.

The BCB President stated, "His performance seems disappointing since the World Cup. The manner in which he gets out repeatedly is not preferable. He keeps playing the wrong shots and gets dismissed. This was evident in the recent Test's second innings as well."

He further added, "His performance has been disappointing since the World Cup. He has been dropped even from the ODI squad. He is an opener like Mushfiqur, whom we have relied on for so long. He has performed well, it's not like he cannot play. He is a beautiful player. There might be some issues which led us to drop him from the ODI squad."

Regarding Litton's captaincy, Nazmul Hasan said, "There is no direct connection between his performance and his captaincy. I don't think so. It would have been better if he hadn't played the Test match. Then people would say why he was dropped despite having such records in Tests, why he was dropped, it's just nonsense. If he is given a break, he can come back well. If he had been given some time off, it would have been better."

Litton was given the responsibility of vice-captaincy. Recently, Nazmul Hasan Shanto has been leading the board in three formats. Therefore, the question arises whether there is any connection between Litton's captaincy and his performance. Although the BCB President does not think so.

One more match of the series is left. Bangladesh suffered a big defeat in the first match. Whether the team can bounce back from that defeat is a question. The next match of the series will be held in Chittagong after Sylhet. Talks revolve around Litton's 'break'. Is it necessary for him to take a break anymore?

Nazmul Hasan, the President of the BCB, said, "A break is needed for him. That's why we have taken the decision. He was sent for a break for this reason. The problem is, the runs he has scored in Tests so far, he has done well. We cannot just discard that. We know he needs a break here. If he gets a break, he will come back. The bigger thing is, since there is no Mushfiq or Shakib, and now there is no Litton Das either, everything was considered to keep him."
