Following the recently concluded India-New Zealand Test series, changes have been made in the Test rankings. India's wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant and New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell have both climbed into the top 10 in the Test batting rankings after their outstanding performances.
Pant moved up five places to secure the sixth spot, thanks to his scores of 60 and 64 in the first and second innings, respectively, while other Indian batsmen struggled. Pant had previously reached his career-best fifth position in July 2022. Meanwhile, Daryl Mitchell jumped eight spots to claim the seventh position.
New Zealand's Player of the Series, Will Young, achieved a career-high 550 rating points and is now ranked 44th. Glenn Phillips also improved by three places and is now the 42nd-ranked batsman in Test rankings.
India's opener Shubman Gill scored 90 runs in the first innings, advancing four places to the 16th spot. However, another Indian opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal, dropped to fourth place. Notably, Indian star Virat Kohli is not among the top 20 batsmen in the Test rankings.
In the second Test between Bangladesh and South Africa in Chattogram, three South African players advanced in the rankings after scoring centuries in the same innings: Tony de Zorzi (38th), Tristan Stubbs (71st), and Wiaan Mulder (75th).
In the Test bowling rankings, India's left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja climbed from 8th to 6th place. New Zealand's Player of the Match Ajaz Patel surged up 12 spots to 22nd. South African left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj also improved from 23rd to 19th after taking five wickets for 59 runs in the second innings against Bangladesh. Kagiso Rabada retained his top spot in the rankings.
