Pakistan completed a dominant 3–0 T20I series whitewash against Australia with a crushing 111-run victory at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. In the third and final match on Sunday, Australia suffered the heaviest defeat in their T20 international history.

After winning the toss and opting to bat, Pakistan posted 207 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs. Opener Saim Ayub and captain Babar Azam laid the foundation of the innings, with Saim scoring 56 and Babar remaining unbeaten on 50. The pair added 69 runs for the third wicket. Shadab Khan provided late impetus, smashing 46 off just 19 balls.

In reply, Australia were under pressure from the outset and failed to mount any resistance against Pakistan’s spin attack. Left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz delivered a career-best performance, claiming 5 wickets for 18 runs. Australia were bundled out for just 96 in 16.5 overs.

Marcus Stoinis top-scored for Australia with 23 off 22 balls, while only three batters managed to reach double figures. The margin of defeat was 11 runs greater than Australia’s previous worst T20I loss — a 100-run defeat against England in 2005.

The loss meant Australia failed to chase a target in all three matches of the series, having previously gone down by 90 and 22 runs in the first two games.

The match also marked a welcome return to form for Babar Azam, who had faced criticism for slow scoring during his stint in the Big Bash League earlier this season.

With the series concluded, both teams have completed their preparations for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Australia will begin their campaign against Ireland on 11 February, while Pakistan will open their tournament against the Netherlands on.
