Bangladesh has a historic opportunity to defeat Pakistan in Test cricket for the first time. On the fifth day of the match, Shakib Al Hasan played a pivotal role in putting Pakistan on the back foot. He dismissed Saud Shakeel and also sent back opener Abdullah Shafique. Following this, the hosts were left bewildered by Miraz's spin attack, with Miraz claiming 4 wickets on his own. Pakistan could only manage 146 runs in their second innings, taking a lead of 29 runs. To secure a historic victory, Bangladesh needs to chase down 30 runs.

Winning this match is crucial for Bangladesh to stay in contention for the World Test Championship. Before the Rawalpindi Test, Bangladesh had played 13 Tests against Pakistan without a victory. Not only had they never won, but they had also only managed to draw once, losing 12 matches. This time, the Tigers have a straightforward equation to secure their first Test victory—scoring just 30 runs in almost two sessions.

The bowlers, particularly Shakib, have given Bangladesh hope of their first-ever Test victory against Pakistan. After scoring 565 runs in the first innings, Bangladesh took a lead of 117 runs. Pakistan could only manage 146 runs in their second innings. Following Shakib Al Hasan's three-wicket haul, Mehedi Hasan Miraz claimed 4 wickets on his own. This led to Pakistan's embarrassing record of being all out for the lowest score in their Test history against Bangladesh.

Before the lunch break, Pakistan's batting fell apart. Following Miraz's wickets, the team was further disrupted after the break. Miraz continued his assault by dismissing Shaheen Shah Afridi, and then took the catch of Nasim Shah off the bowling of Shakib.

Pakistan’s eighth wicket fell at 118 runs, with Khurram Shahzad partnering with Mohammad Rizwan. Rizwan, the last hope for Pakistan, scored 50 runs off 70 balls before being dismissed for 51 runs, caught by the stumps off a delivery from Mehedi Hasan Miraz.

By dismissing Rizwan, who had anchored one end for a long time, Miraz brought Bangladesh closer to victory. Miraz also claimed the final wicket of Mohammad Ali. Consequently, Pakistan was all out for just 146 runs in 55.5 overs. Bangladesh now needs just 30 runs to achieve a historic Test win.
