Mustafizur Dropped, BCB President Bulbul Yet to Receive Confirmed Information

The sudden exclusion of Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman, who was set to play for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at a record price in the IPL, has created a stir in the cricketing world. This development has raised a bigger question—will the Bangladesh team participate in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in India? The matter remains shrouded in uncertainty.

BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul, speaking to the media after an event in Sylhet, said,

"The thing is, at this moment, the information we have is that our counterpart is BCCI, and we play under the supervision of ICC. We have information that Mustafizur was supposed to go play franchise cricket. After that, we have not received any official statement or information. Once we do, we will communicate with you."

This makes it clear that, so far, the board has not received any official details regarding Mustafizur’s exclusion. Meanwhile, the country’s top cricket administrator is not ready to make any definitive comments about Bangladesh’s participation in the World Cup on Indian soil.

Addressing concerns about security in India for the World Cup, he added,

"I am giving a quick answer, which is short; the tournament is being organized by ICC, India is the host. If we need to communicate about anything, we will do so with ICC. At this moment, I cannot give a definite answer to the question, sorry. I will talk with our cricket operations head."

Mustafizur had been bought at a record INR 9.2 crore in the IPL auction. However, amid recent political unrest and under pressure from some Indian supporters, the BCCI reportedly directed KKR not to retain him. This incident has raised complex questions among cricket fans, and it remains to be seen what steps the Bangladesh cricket administration will take to ensure player safety and dignity during the World Cup.
