Amidst the intense heat, there's little enthusiasm surrounding the Dhaka Premier League (DPL). However, due to an incident in cricket, DPL is the talk of the town. Let's dive into yesterday's (April 25th) events.
At Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mohammedan Sporting Club won against Prime Bank Cricket Club by 33 runs. But more than the result of this Super League match, Mushfiqur Rahim's dismissal has sparked more discussion.
In the 34th over of Prime Bank Cricket Club's innings, Abu Hider Rony took a catch off Nayeem Hasan's ball near the boundary line. The catch led to celebrations.
However, Mushfiqur Rahim didn't leave the field. Both he and Prime Bank Cricket Club's players and support staff claimed it wasn't out, as Roni's foot touched the boundary line while taking the catch. Footage from the umpire and Mohammedan officials, as shown by Tamim Iqbal, revealed this. After a 15-minute interruption, the game resumed, and Mushfiqur had to return to the dressing room.
However, neither Mushfiqur nor Prime Bank Cricket Club's players accepted it. No one, apart from Tamim Iqbal, came to hand shake at the end of the match.
Today, Mushfiqur posted a picture of Roni's catch on his Facebook page with the caption "Masha Allah!" Rubel Hossain commented, "Very unfortunate."
Now, the length and breadth of this incident's controversy remain to be seen.
