The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has unveiled several new initiatives for its state cricketers. In a first, the MCA will collaborate with Mumbai University to launch an undergraduate program for cricketers. Additionally, the third edition of the Mumbai T20 League and a UK tour for young cricketers have also been announced.
The special undergraduate program is a pioneering initiative, being the first of its kind by any state cricket board in India. According to the MCA, the program's primary objective is to help cricketers gain professional cricket skills through practical training.
In a statement, the Mumbai Cricket Association said, "This program will provide young cricketers with academic education alongside practical experience, which will aid them in succeeding at the professional level."
The T20 Mumbai League will kick off on May 27, just two days after the conclusion of IPL 2025, which will end on May 25 in Kolkata. The league will see eight teams from various regions of Mumbai competing against each other. The MCA hopes this competition will provide local and emerging talents from Mumbai with a significant opportunity to showcase themselves on the international stage.
MCA President, Ajinkya Naik, stated, "We are committed to the development of Mumbai cricket and the future generation. These new initiatives will give young players the opportunity to practice, compete, and gain international-level experience."
