Mohammedan Sporting Club has arguably been the most criticized team in this year’s Dhaka Premier League (DPL). On the final day of the tournament, they suffered a defeat to arch-rivals Abahani Limited in what was dubbed the unofficial final, costing them the title.

Vice-captain Towhid Hridoy, who missed the match due to suspension, expressed his disappointment through an emotional post on social media. Though he didn’t name anyone directly or mention specific incidents, his frustration was clear.

Hridoy was recently banned for four matches after accumulating eight demerit points for inappropriate behavior towards match officials and controversial comments to the media. As a result, he was unable to participate in the crucial title-deciding match.

Here is the translation of what Hridoy posted on Facebook:

"In this year’s Premier League, Mohammedan Sporting Club fought a silent battle off the field as well. No other team had to endure as much mental struggle as we did.

Every story has two sides. Sometimes one side gets so loud that the other never gets heard. Often we judge without knowing the full picture. If we could have told our side of the story from the beginning, things might have been different. Why we couldn’t—well, that’s a story for another day!

Within a family, everyone makes mistakes, big or small. But to protect one another, we often take burdens on ourselves, be it insult or affection. That’s what life is. For now, I’ve tried to convince myself of this truth.

I am grateful to the Mohammedan management for trying to keep me involved in every match despite my suspension. Much love and respect to my teammates, our coach, and everyone associated with the team."

Hridoy’s post hints at internal challenges within the team and perhaps broader frustrations with the system or decisions made during the tournament. Though cryptic, it sheds light on the emotional toll this season has taken on him and the Mohammedan squad.
