Mohammad Nabi set to retire from ODIs after Champions Trophy 2025
Afghanistan’s star all-rounder Mohammad Nabi is set to retire from ODI cricket after the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan. However, Nabi will continue representing Afghanistan in T20 internationals.
In 2019, Nabi had already retired from Test cricket, and after the upcoming Champions Trophy, he plans to bid farewell to the 50-over format as well. Afghanistan Cricket Board’s CEO, Naseeb Khan, confirmed the news to Cricbuzz on Friday.
Nabi made an impressive debut in 2009 against Scotland, scoring a half-century in his very first match. To date, he has scored 3,549 runs in 165 ODIs with an average of 27.30 and has taken 171 wickets with his effective bowling.
In the ongoing three-match ODI series against Bangladesh in Sharjah, Nabi showcased his class in the first game, scoring an unbeaten 82 runs and helping Afghanistan reach a challenging total. Additionally, he contributed with the ball, providing crucial breakthroughs for his team.
