Misconduct in Womens Cricket, Two More Members Added to Inquiry Committee
Two more distinguished legal professionals, Professor Dr Naima Huq and Barrister Muhammed Mustafizur Rahman Khan, have been added to the committee formed to investigate allegations of misconduct in women’s cricket.
Professor Dr Naima Huq is the former Chair of the Department of Law at the University of Dhaka and a current Member of the Law Commission of Bangladesh. Barrister Muhammed Mustafizur Rahman Khan is a Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. With their inclusion, the committee now consists of five members.
The committee is chaired by Justice Tariq ul Hakim, former Judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court. Other members include Barrister Sarwat Siraj Shukla, President of the Bangladesh Women’s Sports Association, and Ms Rubaba Dowla, Director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
The committee will complete its investigation into the allegations in women’s cricket and submit its recommendations to the BCB.
It is worth noting that women’s cricket in Bangladesh has recently been rocked by allegations of sexual harassment. Former women’s team captain Jahanara Alam has accused former women’s team selector and manager Monzurul Islam Manju, among others, of sexual harassment. The list of accused also includes the team’s coach, manager, and physiotherapist.
