Bangladesh's opening batter Mahmudul Hasan Joy is suffering from a groin injury. As a result of this injury, he will miss Bangladesh's first Test against Pakistan, scheduled to begin on August 21 in Rawalpindi.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed this information through a press release.
In the press release, the national team’s physio, Bayjedul Islam Khan, stated: “Joy sustained a right groin injury while playing for Bangladesh A in the four-day match against Pakistan A on August 14. An MRI was conducted, followed by a physical assessment, which confirmed that he has a Grade 1 adductor strain in his right groin."
“He has already begun his rehabilitation. Usually, such injuries take about 10 to 14 days to heal. He will not be available for the first Test, but we are hopeful that he will be fit for the second Test, starting on August 30. We will be monitoring his progress on a day-to-day basis.”
