Liton gives special thanks to Saifuddin

Bangladesh clinched a 4-wicket win against Ireland in the second T20I. They had to win this match to keep the series alive. Although the batters started well, Bangladesh came under pressure after losing quick wickets toward the end.

In that tense situation, Bangladesh secured victory thanks to Saifuddin’s brilliant batting. Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, captain Liton Das said, “As players, we all want to play matches like this. They also played very good cricket.”

Saifuddin conceded 40 runs and picked up 1 wicket. With the bat, he played a vital cameo of 17 runs off 7 balls. About him, Liton said:

“When we were under pressure, the bowlers did really well. All credit goes to the bowlers—especially Saifuddin. It’s not easy to return to the team after a long time and perform. He gave away a lot of runs in his first over, but then he came back again to bowl at the death. We know what Mustafiz has done in the past. The way Saifuddin bowled his last three overs was very crucial.”

Explaining what he told the batters while chasing 171 runs, Liton said, “I felt the new ball was coming onto the bat much better. When the ball got older, it became difficult to bat. So, after the break, I told them that we needed runs from the top order. Go and score as much as you can.”
