Ireland ends the day at 270/8, 2 wickets in hand. On the first day of the Sylhet Test, Ireland's score stands at 270/8 in the first innings. Irish batter Barry McCarthy remains unbeaten on 21 runs.
At the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Ireland won the toss and opted to bat first. Hasan Mahmud dismissed Irish captain Andrew Balbirnie for a duck in the first over. Despite some dropped catches by the Bangladeshi fielders, Ireland managed to score 94 runs for the loss of 1 wicket at lunch.
Just after the break, Nahid Rana broke the partnership between Paul Stirling and Curtis Campher, with Stirling departing for 60 runs. Later, Mehidy Hasan Miraz's spin claimed Harry Tector and Campher, who scored 59 runs. Ireland slipped to 150/4.
However, Lorcan Tucker and Curtis Campher's partnership propelled Ireland towards a big score. But Nazmul Hossain Shanto's brilliant catch dismissed Campher for 44 runs, courtesy of Hasan Murad. Liton Das's exceptional stumping dismissed Tucker, and Murad claimed another wicket. Liton's stumping also dismissed Andy McBrine, with Miraz claiming his third wicket. Taijul Islam trapped Jordan Neil LBW on the final ball of the day.
