Injuries Hit Teams Before Champions Trophy, Missing Players Form a Strong XI
Injuries have taken a toll on the participating teams before the start of the Champions Trophy. Many players who were expected to be part of the squad have been ruled out due to injuries, and a number of others have been sidelined for various reasons. A strong playing XI can be formed with the players who will not be participating in the tournament.
Currently, Jasprit Bumrah is the nightmare for most batters. The Indian pacer has been ruled out at the last minute as he has not fully recovered from his injury. His absence is a significant blow to India, and not only will the team suffer, but fans across the tournament will also be deprived of watching one of the best bowlers in action.
However, Australia is in an even worse situation than India. Due to injuries, regular captain Pat Cummins, Mitchell Marsh, and Josh Hazlewood have been ruled out. These champion cricketers will not be part of the Champions Trophy, and Australia will have to play without them. Marcus Stoinis and Mitchell Starc will also not be participating.
On the other hand, Afghanistan's team has been hit by injuries as well. Spinners A.M. Gajanfar and off-spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman will not be part of the tournament. Pakistan's in-form batter, Saim Ayub, will also miss out due to injury. Although the PCB hoped that pacer Haris Rauf would recover in time, the concern is still ongoing.
England's squad has also seen a blow, with Jacob Bethel being ruled out. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh cricket team does not have any injury concerns; all players who have traveled are fit. However, key players Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das will not be playing in the Champions Trophy. New Zealand's star all-rounder Rachin Ravindra is also battling an injury.
XI of Players Not Featuring in the Champions Trophy:
Liton Das, Saim Ayub, Mitchell Marsh, Jacob Bethel, Shakib Al Hasan, Marcus Stoinis, Pat Cummins, Jasprit Bumrah, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, A.M. Gajanfar.
Twelfth Man: Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
